There seem to be few genitalic differences between aemulana and tripoliana. In males the socius shape looks different, the cucullus also shows slight differences and in females the sterigma shape - hour glass shaped in tripoliana and straight sided in aemulana - but take care using these diagnostics. Better to confirm using size (aemulana is smaller), wing pattern and habitat location.
